In this workshop we are going to explore how to photograph flowers and nature both in the studio and outdoors. Garry McMichael will show you a series of techniques as well as dozens of tips and tricks that make it possible to take great close-up photos time after time.  Fancy equipment is not necessary. Many modern point and shoot cameras have ultra close-up or Macro capabilities.  DSLR camera owners will find it even easier.

This half-day workshop will start with a short PowerPoint presentation where we will discuss the different “creative” ways to set your camera, using the aperture and shutter speeds to control sharpness and depth of field. You'll discuss how to take photographs in your own home where you have complete control over the lighting. We'll explore simple, inexpensive studio lighting techniques. We'll talk about tripods and filters and using small reflectors to improve your photograph and create special effects.

After the presentation we'll spend a couple hours shooting flowers in a controlled studio location and outside in Lafayette Park. The class will be limited to 10 photographers to insure everyone gets plenty of one-on-one instruction with Garry using your camera and equipment.
