Henryk’s goal is for you, the student, to have the confidence and skills necessary to draw and paint a recognisable portrait and figure. "I want artists work building up masses  of color and value.  You will be painting with a brush and a palette knife."

"Drawing is a discipline, not that it can’t be enjoyable, I’ll give you the confidence to be bold and faster. Painting is an extension of drawing, I’ll guide you through the basics of colour mixing and application."

Henryk's class is an introduction to sound drawing and painting skills. We’ll work from a model and/ or photographs.

Day 1 will address the figure, starting with a demo for the drawing, culminating in a one hour drawing.

The afternoon will be a three hour figure painting.

Day 2 will deal with the portrait. I will start with a drawing demo, and then we’ll spend the rest of the morning drawing from the model, culminating in a one hour portrait study.

In the afternoon I’ll give an extended demo in which you can watch or start your own, including from photographs.

We’ll finish both day with a critique of our work and a art show.
